Biography
Kareem Gad is an Egyptian dancer, choreographer and musician whose professional work spans both Egyptian theatrical traditions and contemporary international education. His background includes singing, music, percussion, poetry, acting and dance, giving him an unusually comprehensive relationship with Egyptian performance culture. He worked as a solo dancer with an official troupe of the Egyptian Ministry of Youth and choreographed for projects connected with Egypt's Academy of Arts. After establishing himself in France, Kareem became co-founder and co-director of Bell'Masry Dance Company in Paris. His teaching covers Raqs Sharqi alongside Egyptian folkloric forms and places strong emphasis on musical structure and cultural context. He also composes and produces music for dancers, extending his contribution from movement into the musical resources used by the international Oriental dance community.
