Biography
Moria Chappell began her belly-dance career in Atlanta in 2001 and later moved to San Francisco for intensive training. She studied within the Salimpour environment and joined Bellydance Superstars in 2005. Chappell eventually became an artistic director for the company and developed a recognisable fusion aesthetic combining muscular belly-dance technique with temple and sacred-art imagery. Her work also incorporates strong interests in costume, mythology and theatrical composition. She continues to perform, teach and create projects that extend belly dance into interdisciplinary and concept-driven stage work.
