About
Biography
Zoe Jakes began belly dance in 2000 after earlier training in several Western dance forms. She became associated with The Indigo and Bellydance Superstars during the growth of Tribal Fusion. In 2007 she co-founded Beats Antique, where she became both lead dancer and a contributor to the group's music and visual direction. Her technique combines belly dance with popping, locking, jazz, Indian influences and theatrical character work. Through Beats Antique and her DanceCraft training system, she has helped move fusion belly dance into music festivals and interdisciplinary performance spaces.
